REGISTERED MASSAGE THERAPY

Pain Management & Rehab Designed for Lasting Results

At Ryo, our Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is an expert at healing injured tissues in order to restore your optimal health. For us, this means balanced, pain-free movement! To do so, our RMT strives to provide personalized therapeutic massage treatments that offer sustainable results that are either completely permanent, or long term. Whether your issue comes from an injury, an accident, or anything else, our RMT is dedicated to uncovering the most effective way to treat your symptoms so you can get back to your routine, pain-free. Below, you will find some of the most common musculoskeletal issues and causes we treat.

At Ryo, our Massage Therapy Treatments begin with a thorough orthopedic assessment. In other words, a comprehensive review of the bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles, that relate to your injured tissues. By doing so, we can look beyond your surface level symptoms, and determine the most effective approach to personalize your massage treatments. As a result, instead of providing a short-term fix, we can restore the optimal health for each and every one of our patients.

FAQ’s

What is registered massage therapy (RMT)?2026-02-06T23:40:55+00:00

Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) is a regulated therapeutic treatment that provides relief for muscle, joint, and tension issues that lead to pain and restricted mobility. Unlike other forms of massage, RMT can only be provided by a licensed and registered massage therapist. By massaging specific points along your body that relate to your symptoms and lifestyle, we can provide effective relief for a variety of issues and injuries.

Is registered massage therapy covered by insurance?2026-02-06T23:40:41+00:00

Many extended health insurance plans cover Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) treatments, but coverage varies by provider and plan. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to confirm your eligibility. If you’ve been in a motor vehicle accident, ICBC may cover RMT treatment fees with no out-of-pocket costs. For work related injuries, RMT treatments may also be covered through WorkSafeBC.

Do registered massage therapy treatments hurt?2026-02-06T23:40:27+00:00

Our RMT treatments are tailored to your specific symptoms and comfort level. When working around tightness, tension, and injuries, your level of discomfort will vary depending on the severity of your symptoms and your stage of treatment.

That said, our massage therapists will always adjust their technique to ensure your treatment is effective while remaining comfortable.

Can RMT be used alongside other treatments and therapies?2026-02-06T23:40:13+00:00

Yes! In fact, at Ryo Acupuncture & Integrative clinic, we specialize in it.

Oftentimes, naturopathic medicine and TCM treatments can complement RMT. And, by creating a custom plan that integrates multiple forms of medicine, we can provide more effective relief that is either permanent, or long-term.

What should I expect from my first registered massage therapy appointment?2026-02-06T23:40:01+00:00

During your first appointment we will review and discuss your current symptoms, your medical history, as well as your lifestyle. This will act as a starting point for us to determine our next steps.

From here, we will organize a custom treatment plan that caters to your specific health characteristics and symptoms.
